DigitalPerformance on Short-Throw Projection with Mirrors -

Digital artists, visualists, VJs … invariably, we all get stuck trying to figure out how to make projection look fantastic in tiny spaces. The challenge: make a big image even with a short distance to the projection surface. DigitalPerformance magazine, an online blog/zine out of the Gertrude Stein Repertory Theatre in New York, has begun a series of tips on short-throw projection. First up: using mirrors. If you’re as bad at geometry and arithmetic as I am, you’ll appreciate the explanation of how to calculate the correct distance. The only bad news: you’ll need bigger mirrors to solve problems than you might think. (Fortunately, if the mirrors aren’t doing it for you, this is just the first of a full series, so stay tuned.)
