In response to your mention of Animata, it looks interesting and these kind of after effects animations would be great if able to work in realtime live. Has anyone done anything of this scale of animation in Apple's Motion in a way that it could be controlled via midi input or sound responsive. I think there's definately a lack of animation software out there for making nice composited work that's realtime or has live input.
I mean Shake/Nuke etc. are great for compositing, Max/Isadora/VVVV are cool for more abstrakt generative stuff as is processing and open frameworks, but I dream of a new timeline layered animation software that bridges the kinda gap between AE/motion and some sort of ableton live session/arrange type app. Am I being blind and missing something?
