An information-dense twitter tip from Bigfug has notified us of some great news for those who love FreeFrameGL’s high performance mojo, but are sad about all their great FreeFrame Classic (yes, I just made that nomenclature up) effects gathering digital dust.

fugWrapperGL is a plugin which allows you to use FreeFrame 1.0 plugins in FreeFrameGL (aka FreeFrame 1.5). It’s an alpha release, so it may break your stuff, but you won’t know unless you try, so give it a spin!

For the deep-geeks, BigFug has also releaseda FreeFrameGL Streaming plugin, to move video between FFGL apps, and fugCompilerGL, which “allows you to create your own FFGL plugins by just writing vertex, fragment, and geometry shaders”. Good times for FreeFrame.

If you’re working on some of your own deep-geeking, send something through to @Jaymis, @PeterKirn or @CDMBlogs on Twitter, or give some love to the slightly-neglected-in-this-decreasingly-email-centric-world contact page.

This is huge.  I want to use tools not make them, so I really appreciate these efforts.  I know there's an old FreeFrame plugin that would in theory let me output vvvv stuff right into Resolume, and that's shit hot.  Tired of being jealous of VDMX + Quartz Composer, and I'm not in the mood for osx86.

    This is great news!

I am trying to get it to work, however, without success. Here's what I've done so far:

    1. Downloaded and unzipped the wrapper tool.

    2. Copied some old FF1.0 plugins into the 1.0 folder and run the BAT file.

    3. Copied the wrapped plugins into the R3 plugins folder.

When I run R3, I get the following error for each wrapped plugin that R3 finds:

"This application has failed to start because swscale-0.dll was not found. Reinstalling this application may fix the problem."

Is there something else I need to do or install to get this working?

    Thanks

    Richard

    Sorted now, thanks.

Copy the swscale-0.dll and the other .dll to your windows/system32 folder, as noted in the instructions. I however experience crashes and haven't got one plugin to work properly yet i'm afraid.

Please, please, please, please, please, please let this work.

Edwin (et al): just released a new version last night that fixes most of the reported problems thus far.

Same problem here. Even with the new 1.0.4

    I am running Win7 x64 and Resolume 3.1.3

By the way: I had to turn off the UAC (user account control) to run the batch. Right clicking and running as administrator didn't do the job.

Anyway: THX so far. Looking forward to seeing this piece develop.
